Heirloom

Heirloom varieties have a history of being passed down through generations. All heirlooms are open-pollinated, but not all open-pollinated plants are heirlooms.

Many people consider an open-pollinated variety that has been handed down since 1950 an heirloom. An heirloom variety may be of significance to a specific region, community, culture or historic time period.
